Food and environmental education in a city farm

Working farm within the city offering educational programmes to the community about food security and environmental issues.

Spitalfields City Farm was originally set up by volunteers in 1978 and we still rely on volunteers today to help maintain the farm and gardens, look after the animals and assist us delivering projects.

What is unique about the community

Spitalfields City Farm is the nearest city farm to the square mile. Despite this, the farm is located in one of the most deprived and densely populated wards of Tower Hamlets (DOE 1996), although Spitalfields remains a vibrant and colourful multi-cultural area with strong community links.

What can the community contribute?

Spitafields has been working with phD student Sara Heitlinger on a 'Connectd Seeds' project and are interested in applying for the open call to continue experimentation.
